Mo'ne Davis Lands the Cover of Sports Illustrated

Latest

Baseball badass Mo’ne Davis will appear on the cover of this week’s national Sports Illustrated. She’s the first Little Leaguer to bag the honor.

“Last week, this week, maybe next week, she’s owned the sports conversation,” said SI managing editor Chris Stone. “How often do you get to say this about a 13-year-old girl? It’s the easiest type of story to identify as a cover story.” Good on Sports Illustrated for recognizing that—considering they don’t exactly have the best track record of putting female athletes on the cover.

In a preview of the profile, Davis admitted baseball isn’t even her number-one sports passion: “To be honest, I never thought I’d be famous for baseball,” she confessed, adding that, “I want to play basketball, and I could also do both basketball and baseball — but I really want to play basketball.” Have mercy.

Here’s the cover in all its glory. All hail Mo’ne!
