Upcoming (And Likely Bestseller) Paula Deen Cookbook Has Been Axed

I promise we will stop talking about this soonish, you guys. After “careful consideration” from Ballantine Books, the publication of Paula Deen’s upcoming cookbook Paula Deen’s New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up — currently #1 in cookbooks and #18 overall on Amazon — has been cancelled, along with the five-book deal they’d struck with her.

Says Deen’s literary agent: “I am confident that these books will be published and that we will have a new publisher.” Implies Deen’s literary agent: “Apologies to racists who just wanted to make their own cornbread.”

Now that Paula is down and out, do you think she will listen to all the people who have been pitching her a co-hosted faux-cooking show sitcom with James Deen? (All the people = me.) (Pitching her = writing the spec on the wall of my apartment in mayonnaise.) [People, USA Today; lede image via Tumblr]
