Q: Where can you find Sarah Jessica Parker, Natalie Portman, Carolina Herrera and all their fancy friends? A: At Lincoln Center’s New York City Ballet Spring Gala, of course!

Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins and SJP are obviously BFF – maybe it’s the whole Baryshnikov connection?

Sue me: I have a soft spot for SJP. Once I saw her at Marshall’s, the discount store. It was me, her, and a bunch of Orthodox mothers. So now we have a bond. So, even though I find this jacket a tad Tudors, and even though the matchy clutch is slightly curious, I like the mixology involved.

Natalie Portman, a ballet-lover in every sense. (Get it? Get it?) Here, she evokes The Firebird. She also looks fab.

Natch, Carolina Herrera was there! One presumes in one of her own designs, looking like the most regal mother of the bride in bridal history.

Naturally, the Social Set was out in force. Gillian Miniter was Team Lime in classic gala-wear.

Look, I’m sure Gala Chairman Katie Von Strasser is a lovely and competent person and I’m glad she’s living her truth (wow, that really does work in any situation!) but baldly put: this may be the most unflattering gown ever made, as my mother would say, by man or beast.
