Welp, Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet Still Seem to Be for Real

I’m simply obsessed with how we all found out they spent Christmas together.

Between couple pics featuring matching pajama sets and meticulously orchestrated proposals, Christmas, arguably more so than Valentine’s, is the Olympics of declaring to the world how serious your relationship is. Or, if you’re simply too cool for school, you could do what Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet did and show off that you’re together for Christmas by… *checks notes* making a seemingly unplanned cameo in Landon Barker’s Snapchat story.

Since Tuesday, photos of Jenner and Chalamet at the annual Kardashian Kristmas party—chatting it up and looking every bit the Serious Couple—have been making the rounds on social media. But these photos aren’t coming from Jenner or Chalamet’s Instagram grids, nor from any professional photographer. They’re coming from Barker’s Snapchat, where the two briefly appear in the background of videos Kourtney Kardashian’s stepson took of the party. And these grainy screenshots have racked up more views and likes than any of the declarative Instagram grid pics of any other celebrity couple. So, perhaps a lesson to be had for any PR folks trying to hard-launch a celeb couple: You’re going to want them to casually attend a party where 20-year-olds with Snapchat will be.

That being said, to any of the long-suffering Chalamet fan girls clinging on to the belief that this was all just a fling, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like Jenner and Chalamet may be for real. It was just earlier this month that The Messenger reported the two are getting “more serious” and their families have met. Not a shock considering Jenner’s momager Kris took it upon herself to promote Chalamet’s SNL episode a few weeks ago. However, I’d argue the real proof of how “serious” this relationship is getting lies in the fact that Jenner has seen Chalamet’s latest movie, Wonka, *at least* twice, which you don’t just do for some casual situationship.

Dating rumors about the two first started swirling back in the spring and, in line with the Christmas photos I’ve been seeing everywhere, their every public appearance thus far has been equal parts subtle and overt. There’s Jenner’s sneaky little reveal that her iPhone lock screen is a selfie of Chalamet kissing her on the cheek, which sparked fierce internet debate about whether the reveal was intentional. There are the pap snaps of them exiting a car together with Jenner holding his pinky finger in her hand. Through it all, they’ve yet to post each other or say anything publicly about the relationship, and who knows, maybe they never will. Maybe they’ll get married and all we’ll know of it will be through North West’s TikTok.
