Woman Catfishes Niece, Learns That Niece Wants Her Dead

Would that the Catfish team had gotten this on camera: An young Alabama woman allegedly asked a man she met on Facebook to kill her aunt, her aunt’s family and her aunt’s dog. Twist: The “man” was actually her aunt, who’d created a fake Facebook account to check up on her niece’s Internet activities.

Bet their family reunions are a real laugh riot.

AL.com reports that 19-year-old Marissa Williams had been living with her aunt for a couple of months. It wasn’t going well, thanks in part (allegedly) to Williams’ fondness for inviting over strangers from the Internet. So her aunt, hoping for a little insight, created a fake Facebook account under the name of Tre “Topdog” Ellis. She figured it might be a good way to teach her niece about Internet safety.

She got a lot more than she bargained for.

Almost immediately, according to court docs, Williams handed out her home address and invited “Topdog” to come over and get drunk. After a few more days, Williams began complaining about her family:

She then asked the man she’d never met to come kidnap her and take her away from her family. According to the deposition, Williams told ‘Tre’ to shoot and kill her aunt if she tried to stop him.
Her plans reportedly got increasingly intricate and sinister as time passed. According to the court files, she told the fictional man how to get into her aunt’s bedroom so he could kill her and the woman’s fiance first, then she asked him to shoot her cousin and the family dog on the way out. Williams allegedly planned to pack her things in his car while ‘Tre’ murdered her family.

Her horrified aunt promptly called the cops. Williams apparently confessed and said she was very sorry, but insisted that “she didn’t really mean for anyone to be killed.” She has been charged with solicitation of murder.

Like they say: You can pick your friends, but you can’t pick your relatives.
