In what continues to be longest and most obnoxious bout of rebellion ever, Miley Cyrus appears in a new Flaming Lips video called, sigh, “Blonde SuperFreak Steals the Magic Brain.”
“This is the video we originally intended to be for a song that has a reference to the drug LSD,” Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne said unnecessarily.
The video, which is difficult to get through, very long and not really worth the effort, features lots of close-ups of painted mouths with pink goo dripping out of them, tie-dye graphics, multicolored “brains” and naked butts because, did I mention LSD?
Coyne describes the story behind video thusly:
The video story is something like this: Moby is an evil, power-hungry cult leader. He wants the world’s most valuable (according to our story) psychedelic supernatural possession… John F. Kennedy’s brain….the brain contains the original formula for the drug LSD!!!
There’s more to the story but I’m sure you don’t care. And yeah, Moby is in it also. Fuckin’ Moby. I live a life such that, if Moby appears on my radar, I know I’m doing something wrong.
This is the video equivalent of that guy in your freshman year dorm who put up a Bob Marley poster on move-in day just to let everrrrrybody know that he likes to smoke the weed.
While I know she’s not solely responsibly for this, ahem, project, it’s very Miley of Miley to be involved. Her idea of being creative is to be as fanatically nonsensical as possible, which frankly, isn’t that difficult and doesn’t require much creativity.
How do we let her know that we get it so that all this can stop? We know you’re edgy, girl! You’re the edgiest Miley who ever Mileyed and you’re super, super cool and edgy and drugs drug drugs. We get it. Leave us alone.
