Chet Votes Republican, Pays Consequences

On last night’s episode of The Real World, Chet made one of his “dreams come true” by having a life-size cardboard cutout of himself made. Naturally, it was vandalized by his drunk roommates.

Chet got all butt hurt about it, mostly the incident took place on election night and a picture of Obama was pasted to the cutout’s face, and he voted for McCain. His excuse for getting upset was that someone had ruined his “personal property” and a “work of art.”

Also, Chet debuted a few more purple pieces of clothing. I give you this week’s Purple Pain:

In other news, Ryan completed his class at the New York Film Academy, and the roomies all went to see his final project, which he described as a “dismal and depressing” short film. It is such a student film. I half expected to hear Illeana Douglas’ voice drone, “Mirror, father, mirror, father.”

But all kidding aside, Ryan is suffering from PTSD—although he seldom admits it—from having served in Iraq. When Obama was elected into office, Ryan was so psyched because he thought that meant that he probably wouldn’t be deployed again. However, at the end of the episode, he got the call he’s been dreading: He’s required to report for active duty in conjunction with Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was the cliffhanger of the episode. The previews for next week show a somber house of roommates, as Ryan tells them that he won’t be seeing them for a long time. Once again, during a very serious moment, the camera panned to Chet:
