It’s always admirable when you see someone change something that they don’t like about their lives. Maybe they move apartments, maybe they break up with a partner who isn’t treating them right or maybe they decide to legally change their name to “Sexy” because they think it suits them better than “Sheila.” Fair enough. You only get one life so make it the life you want!
A woman in Pataskala, Ohio recently had her dreams come true when a Licking County probate judge approved her request to change her name to Sexy. When asked by Judge Robert Hoover why she wanted the name change, the woman (formerly known as Sheila Ranea Crabtree) responded, “I feel like I’m a free-spirited person, I love to have fun, and this is the last piece to make my life complete.” Judge Hoover approved her request shortly thereafter.
Speaking later with Fox 19, Sexy explained in more detail what motivated her to change her name:
“[Sheila]’s just one of those names that I can’t stand. I hate the fact that I have been cursed with it. My mom gave me my middle name of Ranea and my dad gave me my ugly name.”
But why change it to Sexy?
“I do wear a lot of Victoria’s Secret clothes and my husband calls me sexy all the time. I really want to do Sexy because it’s kinda’ like my personality. I just love to be adventurous, have fun and do all kinds of things.”
Then Sexy you shall be!
Sexy Crabtree informed The Columbus Dispatch that her husband and teenage daughters all support the name change. Good for them. There was a whole week in third grade where I started signing my name as “Maddy” instead of “Maddie” and my family was pretty cool about it, too.
