Netflix Is Making an Anthology Series Out of Dolly Parton Songs

Entertainment

Netflix is turning the oeuvre of Dolly Parton into an anthology TV series, adapting eight of her songs into “stand-alone narrative episodes.” Really it should just be seven different versions of “Jolene,” with one “I Will Always Love You” tossed in for good measure.

“Ms. Parton will serve as singer-songwriter, executive producer and actor in the series, which is being produced in association with Warner Bros. Television,” the New York Times reported. According to the press release on her site, she’ll also appear in some of the episodes. “As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music,” Parton said. “I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix.”

Honestly, now I’m just sitting here, wishing once again that I could depart immediately for Dollywood, which was probably her plan all along.
