Pussy Riot Members Arrested for 'Crazy Accusations'
LatestVeronika Nikulshina, a member of Pussy Riot, and an unidentified friend were arrested and detained by police in Moscow.
The Guardian reports that Nikulshina was jailed overnight on Monday. Another member, Peter Versilov, was also arrested outside of his home the same day. “Moscow police is now claiming that Nika and her friend were refusing to agree to a “terrorist check” of their car,” Pussy Riot tweeted. “And they had to be arrested. Crazy accusations!”
Pussy Riot claims that both activists were arrested because of the group’s recent World Cup protest, in which four members ran onto the field in protest and to call on Russia to “allow political competition in the country” and “let all political prisoners free,” among other demands.
