Stephen Malkmus' Tayor Swift Cover Is Going to Make Music Snobs So Mad

Entertainment

During You Who, a live Portland variety show, indie rock legend and Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus performed a cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.” That blasting sound isn’t the music you’re hearing, folks—it’s the exploding heads of enraged record store dorks and music elitists across the planet.

Malkmus’ Taylor Swift cover is funny and enjoyable because the song “Blank Space” is funny and enjoyable. The cover is hilarious because I can’t help but laugh at how angry all my dad’s friends must be right now. Malkmus won’t reunite Pavement, but he’ll cover a top 40 song? A top 40 song sung BY A GIRL, no less? Yes and yes, and look what a fun time he’s having while doing it.

Too bad that he cut “the lonely Starbucks lovers” line, though.
