Watch Every Female TV Host Ever Thank Barbara Walters for Existing

Latest

Filmed on Thursday, The View aired their final, final, final goodbye to Barbara Walters Friday morning. The episode included appearances by Hillary Rodham Clinton, Michael Douglas and Oprah Winfrey, as well as practically every single female television host from the last two decades, all of whom came to pay their respects to the queen.

Despite the fact that the producers had 24 hours to get the show into gear, the beginning of the episode had some very choppy edits and far too many shots of the audience applauding in the dark. They did, however, make sure to allow Walters ample time to thank her favorite friends/interview subjects and reflect for the thousandth time on her impressive career.

Walters admitted that though she was the first female co-host of a nightly news program, she was “a flop” until “someone threw me that life preserver called ‘Specials,’ with the biggest stars in news and show business, and I learned how to swim again.”

She also made sure to mention “how proud” she is of “all the young women who are making and reporting the news” (like the ones she receiving line-d earlier in the show. “If did anything to help that happen, that’s my legacy.”

Now, “I can take a deep breath and enjoy my view.”
